(1) Spindle head and column are intergrated , the machine is heavier and structure is more rugged.
(2) Counterweight and slideway are in-line. It is more balanced and will reduce the machine vibration while doing heavy cutting.
(3) Because of no binding on vertical movement , the minimum up and down increment feed can be achieved without stick-slip situation.
(4) With correct balancing weight applied at the center line of gravity , accuracy of machining can be maintained either heavy or light cutting.
(5) 2/3 of the column is usually submerged in the machine base formed like an enclosed box. It is less chance of deforming and rigidity is better. |
